I haven’t found an explanation of “appoint weekly first backup as” that makes sense, but I found a case study that specified the backups the way I did them. Somewhere in there it deletes the full and incremental backups that are more than 4 weeks old. it creates a full backup and every other day at 3 a.m. For Image-Reserve Strategy I specified “no more than 4 weeks” and checked “Don’t delete the first image”. I then selected “System Backup” again and created ANOTHER backup with: Weekly, every day EXCEPT Monday at 3 a.m., specified “Incremental” in Backup Method, and told it to wake the computer if needed. In the free Todo Backup, I selected “System Backup” and created a backup with: Weekly on Monday at 3 a.m., specified “Full” for Backup Method and told it to wake the computer if needed. So I’m looking at a couple different backup/restore tools (including Windows) to see what'll be easiest for regular "users" to use. Recently, an acquaintance who didn’t have ANY backup had a system disk failure and said it was “unpleasant” (I'm editing heavily). I've also never had to restore anything from the Macrium backups, but I hope it'll work if I ever have to. The interface seems more complex than Todo Backup (perhaps not as good for a normal "user", and it doesn't make incrementals, so I'm looking around at others. I've been using the free Macrium Reflect for a little while, and as near as I can tell, it works.
